The Center for Urban Pedagogy (CUP) is a nonprofit design office dedicated to producing pedagogical and activating work about the built environment. Since 1995, CUP has worked by itself, and in collaboration with others, on publications, exhibitions, design competitions, research, and public art involving issues of community and urban planning, urban studies, and the political uses of architecture. CUP has produced Jamaica Big Up, an interactive planning model that is literally installed within the existing shoe display at Sneaker Mart Plus in Gertz Plaza Mall, seamlessly bringing urban planning tools and discourse into the experience of shopping.
